Benefits of breastfeeding

  • At birth and up to six months, the baby should be fed only breast milk.
  • Breast milk protects the baby from diarrhea, respiratory infections and allergies.
  • It also prevents you from some types of cancer, obesity and diabetes mellitus.

Tips for successful breastfeeding

  • In the first three months, breastfeed the child whenever he asks.
  • If he sleeps peacefully, urinates several times a day, and gains weight, it means that the baby is getting enough breast milk.
  • When breastfeeding, the mother should be calm and comfortable.
  • Do not give the baby any other liquid or food for the first 6 months.
  • Never use a pacifier or pacifier.
  • Avoid the consumption of alcohol, cigarettes, drugs, use only medicines recommended by health personnel.
  • At six months introduce other foods and continue to breastfeed until beyond two years.
